Cities, Lakes, and Mountains of Northern Italy and Switzerland !

Scenic beauty is the keynote of this tour hosted by Lee Ranson of WEEK-TV. The very stylish northern Italian city of Milan is first on the itinerary. Here we will see the cathedral, a marvel of white marble bristling with belfries, gables and 135 pinnacles topped with white marble statues. Not far away is the world famous La Scala opera house and a bit further on we'll view Leonardo da Vinci's magnificent "Last Supper". Then moving northward we enter the gorgeous Italian lake country which overlaps into Switzerland. Continuing our northward journey, we cross the Alps and immerse ourselves in alpine culture. Next its the ancient and lovely city of Lucerne, the village of Appenzell steeped in folk traditions, picturesque towns along the Rhine River and the mighty Rhine Falls. This very dramatic and spellbinding play recounting the last days of Christ and his crucifixion is presented throughout the summer once every ten years by the townspeople of Oberammergau, a small village near the Bavarian Alps in Southern Germany. We'll also be visiting Vienna and Salzburg, Austria with a short cruise on the Danube River, Munich and the Rhine River Falls, the Black Forest, the Swiss Alps with a stay in Zermatt at the foot of the famous Matterhorn mountain, the beautiful lakeside city of Lucerne and Bern, the capital of Switzerland.
